IRREPLACEABLE IMPACT: Matson Inc

The spirit of giving – striving to make positive contributions to our communities – has long been a part of Matson’s values and vision. That spirit was recently displayed when Matson Giving made a donation of 10 40’ high- cube containers to our Impossible Tiny Home projects.

(The need for containers) all began with a disabled U.S.Army combat veteran who had been recently discharged from the hospital. Due to his disability his previous living arrangements were no longer suitable, and while there was adjacent property available, the logistics of obtaining permits to have a suitable home built would have taken years.  Therefore, the Impossible Roads Foundation opted to provide emergency shelter in the form of a “tiny home.” A tiny home built with a Matson shipping container.

Word about the project spread and others became aware of the societal implications; soon the conversations began to extend beyond what we could do for one vet into what we could do for many vets.

Matson’s commitment to the ideals and dedication of helping those in need, as well as the assistance and patience of Matson employees, were instrumental to the success of the Impossible Roads Tiny Home project, affectionately called the “Impossible Tiny Home.” Matson’s contribution to the vision of the Impossible Roads Foundation is benefiting 10 families, and most likely many more, who will have a safe, warm, custom home that fits both their personal and medical needs. Without Matson’s dedication and kindness, broader conversations about displacement, shelter, charity, and the maximizing of resources would have never taken place.  Thank you Matson!!!!!
